Minus 2 Degrees (M2D), is pleased to announce that they have collaborated with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to monitor and calculate carbon emissions during the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the Women’s T20WC 2024 and the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
M2D was able to collect vital data across multiple venues during the Men’s T20 World Cup in June, ensuring that the environmental impact of such global sporting events is quantified, understood, and can eventually be minimized

A Unique Perspective: Perspective from M2D’s Team Members
Danielle Flores, a team member at M2D, shared her experiences from attending several matches, and illustrated the impact of M2D’s involvement. After attending the Canada vs. USA on June 1st at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas Flores commented:
“Our team was responsible for data collection Grand Prairie Stadium and was able to assess how we can implement reduction strategies for the stadium. We collected data on everything from waste generated to electronic equipment from suppliers.”
Flores also attended India vs. Pakistan at Nassau County, New York on June 9th, where the intensity of the rivalry and the enthusiasm of fans left a lasting impression on her.
“I had the opportunity to witness the rivalry between the India and Pakistan teams at first hand. The caliber of talent and passionate cricket fans who packed the stands made for a memorable experience. Working in close contact with the ICC enabled me to collect all the necessary data.”
Brooke Stiles, also on the M2D team, praised the ICC’s commitment to incorporating sustainability into global cricket events.
“We had a wonderful experience working with the ICC helping to incorporate sustainability into professional sports. Observing firsthand their dedication to environmental management was inspiring. The ICC’s proactive approach to sustainability sets a positive example for sports organizations worldwide.”
ICC Women’s T20 World Cup
M2D’s work continued in the United Arab Emirates where the Women’s T20 World Cup was hosted after being moved from Bangladesh. M2D staff visited the Dubai and Sharjah venues to observe power usage and waste management and once again worked with the ICC and event suppliers to tally the carbon emissions resulting from event activity.
M2D has shown versatility and attention to detail in the work being done at these three events. The reports that have and will be drafted will assist ICC in pinpointing areas that have the most impact and will be looking for ways to reduce its carbon emissions.
